Mumbai District Co-operative Housing Federation Ltd., is the oldest housing Federation established as back as in 1948 viz. Mumbai and Thane District Cooperative Housing Federation Ltd., with an area of operation Mumbai Suburban and Thane District

Thereafter it was decided to have one independent Housing Federation for each District and hence the existing Federation was bifurcated and a separate federation for Thane District was set up on 1-8-1991. Hence our Federation was renamed as The Mumbai District Co-operative Housing Federation.

We have two offices in Mumbai with a staff strength of 21 . Our Board of Directors consist of 23 Directors (21 elected Directors and 2 Co-Opted Directors ) .

At present our area of operation is from Colaba to Dahisar on western line, Colaba to Mulund on central line and upto Mankhurd on eastern line. We have 22,000 co-operative housing societies as our members. We guide and advise our member co-operative housing societies in their day to day problems . We have two offices available for personal advice . Our Chairman / Secretary and other Board Members are also personally available from 2-00 P.M. to 6-00 P.M. for advise. We also guide members on telephone for any casual querry. We also reply through letters received from member co-operative housing societies.

We conduct periodical seminars area wise to guide and advise office bearers of co-operative housing societies.

We have a sale counter for sale of stationery required by co-operative housing societies at our Fort Office ,we also 1 sale extension counter in Suburban area at Andheri (E). We publish a magazine viz. “Housing Times” every month which contains useful information for co-operative housing societies. The said magazine is sent to all member societies free of cost.

We have Six Special Recovery Officers Authorized by the Department to recover dues of co-operative housing societies by following due procedure under Section 154-b-29 MCS Act-1960.
